Spessartite Garnet

This bright, golden orange stone was first discovered in the German Spessart Mountains. Not much of the stone was available, unfortunately, so the stone became a gem sought out by collectors. Years later, by the Kunene River, between Angola and Namibia, another source of these garnets was uncovered, and soon after, yet another find in Nigeria, thus bringing this "Mandarin Garnet" to the market. Supplies of gem-quality Spessartit still remain limited.
